The 2020 MotoGP season kicks back into gear from mid-July with Spain the first race on the calendar. Australia’s Jack Miller has signed to ride with the Ducati factory team in 2021. New Ducati models are arriving on Australian shores now with and more coming later in the year and there are new moves on the corporate front. So what better reasons to focus on news from the iconic Ducati motorcycle brand.

In significant news for local Ducati lovers, the company has changed its business structure with a more from an importer arrangement to a fully-owned company subsidiary for the Australian and New Zealand operations after 50 years!

The move is seen as a signal that the Italian manufacturer has plans to grow its business in the region, which is always good news for local riders. It will allow the company to react faster to issues and acquire a better understanding of local needs which should all be of great benefit to Ducati owners.

The move also sees motorcycle industry veteran, Sergi Canovas take on the role of Managing Director for the Aust-NZ subsidiary.

Italy was hit very hard by the coronavirus pandemic and the Ducati factory in Italy had to close for 2 months. But now this much-loved manufacturer with 90 years of history, is back in business and releasing the new 2020 models in Australia.

New Streetfighter V4

The new Ducati Streetfighter V4 is sure to make it to the top of a lot of wish lists. Available in two models – V4 and V4 S – it features the Ducati red with dark grey frame and black wheels. An appearance which has the Streetfighter V4 voted the most beautiful bike in a poll run by an Italian motorcycle magazine.

The spirit of the Streetfighter has been captured in the minimalist headlight design and the design of the front end as it flows in a low and lunging way out, from the tank. It has many classic Ducati hallmarks and many features to note. The aerodynamics incorporate a biplane configuration designed to instil rider confidence.

New Hypermotard 950 RVE

Due to arrive in Australia in November 2020, the new Hypermotard 950 RVE continues to Ducati tradition of delivering endless adrenalin and fun. Known as ‘graffiti’ by the makers, the livery is striking and unique design. The electronics package has been enhanced, handlebars are wide, sides narrow, low weight – allowing greater agility in direction changing. Power is delivered from the 937cc Testastretta twin cylinder engine.

Good news – expect the 950 RVE in November. Bad news – numbers are expected to be limited.

Other New Models

Also new from the iconic Italian is the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour. This is the ultimate sport touring bike with looks that are pure Italian chic and cool. Matte colour scheme and tone on tone logo ensure you’ll turn heads as you turn corners.
