Phillip Island Recap

It was hailed as one of the great GP races at the Island as the 2022 Australian Moto GP held crowds spellbound all the way to the chequered flag. The crowds were sensational with organizers reporting the largest attendance in 10 years. That’s since 2012 when Casey Stoner was racing - who by the way was at the Island for the 2022 event. Stoner added that magic to the event along with another true legend of world motorcycle racing, Wayne Gardner. Gardner on hand to watch some Remy in the main race.

After some great performances, all eyes and hopes were on Remy Gardner to do well and for Jack Miller to make it a podium finish. Miller was honoured prior to the race with a corner named after him. A move that would sadly become quite more notable.

Miller started from 8th on the grid and quickly moved up to be in contention in the top 3 over the early laps. But Miller was bumped out by Alex Marquez and forced to retire on the 9th lap. Marquez immediately accepted blame for the incident and was seen attending to Miller on the ground to check he was OK and apologizing to him.

Meanwhile, Remy Gardner did battle through to finish 15th/

The win went to Alex Rins on a Suzuki, followed by Marc Marquez on a Honda with Francesco Bagnaia on a Ducati in 3rd. The teams now head to Malaysia for the next round with Bagnaia in prime position to take out the championship.

While the 2022 event is done and dusted, organizers are already gearing up for the 2023 Australian Moto GP. It will be held 20-23 October next year and those interested in attending and register interest to receive info and tickets are released.

Getting on the Road or the Track on a Ducati

A leading manufacturer in motorcycle racing, Ducatis were prominent on the grid at Phillip Island and on the leader board. While the top two positions went to Suzuki and Honda, it was Bagnaia’s Ducati in third with more Ducatis in the top 10.

If the performance has inspired buyers, then the 2023 Panigale V4R from Ducati could be on the wish list. Ducati has unveiled details of the updates for this new model which includes technical solutions which prior had been included only for the Moto GP and Worlds SBK machines. The company says this is the closest model of a production bike has come to a competition machine. You’ll want to check out the details and watch the videos of the unveiling.

Buyers should be aware that while we source cheaper interest rates, the motorcycle finance market, as with other lending areas, is affected by RBA rate decisions. The RBA has lifted the cash rate at its last 6 monthly meetings and indicated that further rate rises are to be expected. The next meeting of the RBA Board is on Tuesday 1 November and an announcement of a further cash rate rise could happen on that day.
