Yamaha Motorcycles the top selling brand in a steadier market

Yamaha Motorcycles is the top selling motorbike brand on the Australian market across the brands reporting sales to the FCAI for January-June 2025. Yamaha finished the 6-month period with the biggest number of new machines sold, ahead of Honda, Kawasaki and KTM. Not all brands report their sales figures to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) for inclusion in the data. Notably Royal Enfield and CFMOTO do not report their figures.

The excluded brands aside, it may not be surprising that Yamaha is such a popular brand and has been for a long time. Yamaha offers both road and off-road models to suit many riders and riding experiences. Off-road machines for fun, adventure, working on the land and motocross. The road collection has a range of riding styles covered with supersport, touring and heritage models.

The affordable price range is also sure to be popular with buyers. With selected models, including the 2024 XSR700 currently on stock clearance, and with our highly competitive finance rates, you could be riding a top selling machine with very workable repayments.

FCAI Reports Yamaha Motorcycles as Top Seller

The FCAI reported the sales for new motorbikes from manufacturers that choose to report for the first six months of the year as remaining steady. Just over 42,500 machines were sold with almost equal numbers of off-road and road models sold. The off-road market increased 3.35% on 2024 figures while road models dropped slightly, 1.9%.

According to the Chief Executive of the FCAI, Tony Weber, the new motorbike market is steady. Mr Weber said that the market offered a wide range of options for buyers with strong competition. Yamaha was the best-selling brand for the reporting period.

Yamaha Motorcycles Finance

Private buyers requiring finance to make their purchase have large consumer lending market to select from. Banks, finance companies, brokers and dealers all have loans for motorbikes. Some, such as Jade will have specific Motorcycle Loans while others will offer more generic Personal Loans.

There can be differences with the types of loans offered by lenders. These differences can be in the amount a lender will approve for a personal loan, the terms offered, the rate of interest and if the interest rate is variable or fixed.

Dealers will typically offer loans only through their one finance partner with no choice of lender. Brokers, including Jade, find buyers the most suitable loan product and best rate offer from across their vast lender selection. Using a broker to source the loan does not slow down the financing process. Our brokers respond quickly to all requests for quotes and applications. Many applicants can receive their approval within 24 hours.

A secured format loan is the most popular type of finance for new machines. This type of loan can be used to finance all new Yamaha models – road and off-road. Lenders accept the machine as the collateral or security for the loan. Each application is assessed individually, and lenders use their own criteria for determining if a borrower needs to provide additional assets as security.

With the machine as loan security, lenders offer their best rates on secured loans for new goods. Our rates are fixed and will remain unchanged over the fixed term. Repayments are made in equal fixed monthly instalments. Additional payments are allowed. If additional payments are made and the loan is finalised prior to the end of the fixed term, minimal early payout fees apply.

While interest rates are offered based on individual application assessments, buyers can use our current rates as a guide to work out payment estimates. Compare estimated payments on different priced models using our Finance Calculator.

New Rider Finance Opportunities

Many new and young riders can be drawn to a Yamaha as their first bike. But they may face issues when it comes to securing affordable finance to make the purchase. Under Australian Consumer Credit Laws, individuals must be over the age of 18 years, have employment and income and provide financial documents as part of the application process. Many young people may also not have built up a credit profile if they have not borrowed money or had a credit card.

New and young buyers that do not meet the approval criteria may consider a guarantor. A guarantor is usually a family member who guarantees the loan made by a younger person. We can assist young buyers with this process which may result in an affordable Yamaha loan.

Tips for Affording a Best-Selling Motorcycle

Cover off on alternatives if offered dealer finance, especially with interest rates. Interest rates and loan features and benefits vary with lenders. A better deal may be available to you through another lender.

Consider making a larger deposit and reducing the loan required. Not only will the repayments be less, but a smaller loan amount compared with the value of the machine may result in lenders offering a lower interest rate.

Credit ratings are critical to being offered the best interest rate. Ensure yours is as good as it can be before applying.

Consider the term of the loan. The term affects the monthly repayment and the total interest payable on the loan. Many buyers may try to get the longest repayment term possible to get the lowest monthly payments possible. But a longer term may attract a higher total interest over the term, which goes towards the real cost of the machine.

Consider applying for finance before buying the machine. Knowing how much you are approved to borrow can provide vital information to select the Yamaha model in the corresponding price range.

Use our broker services to simplify the entire process of securing your most affordable Yamaha Motorcycles finance.
